Snow early with sun on its heals.

TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update- For Today- 12/11: The jet stream is shifting with the pattern pivoting from the southwest around to the northwest and we are seeing a quick surge of moisture pushing across the area that will give us snow through the morning but then clearing into the afternoon. Cloud cover stopped the cooling overnight but even a milder start won’t help too much with warming so expect cooler temperatures. Accumulations will be limited to an inch or two for the resort and traces around Gunnison.

Temperatures: Lows bottomed out before midnight and then rebounded with the clouds with CB reporting 4 while Gunni stayed clearer longer reaching -1. Highs will hold to the high 20’s even as the sun returns this afternoon. Lows tonight will see a similar trend as the clouds move in early Wednesday.

Outlook: A series of troughs and ridges extend deep into the pacific flow and we will alternate between colder air from the north and a milder southwestern flow. Colder air and a stronger system from the northwest will move in through the day on Wednesday and this will mean periods of heavier snow later in the day and overnight but accumulations will be limited by it’s speed. By Thursday we are back in the sun.
