As a follow-up to Jmbo's posting on November 20 -- there were no credit card problems of any kind at the track in Austin. Anyway, another season comes to an end. Quite frankly, SBF and yours truly are getting a little tired of Vettel's domination. Maybe the new car specifications for next year will even the playing field some. Not sure how the new engines will sound since they are limited to something like 15,000 rpms -- hopefully they will still make an awesome noise! Here's wishing everyone has a great Holiday Season...
Waaaaaaa! If I stayed w/ Alonso I would have had an additional 15 points creaming out 89TurboTA! There's screaming and whining coming from Jimbo's garage this morning. Congrations to the shiny-headed one, you lucky SOB! Can I get some cheese and crackers please?
Actually I had Vettel, Webber, Alonso last night but when I saw how Alonso did in P3 I decided to go back to Grosjean. Should have left it alone. Should have just slept in. Lesson learned: Should have drunk more ale last night. But again, congratulations Two-timer!
I want to thank Webber and Grosjean for being 1-2 in the final practice. Jimbo could not resist taking both of them!
Back to Back Champion as well!
If Nico were to finish 1st and Grosjean did not finish, scuderiateocalli will be 2nd and I will be third. Second place Nico will leave things as they are now. I don't see any way that 89TurboTA will not become our two-time winner. So I guess it's congratulations again to 89TurboTA!! You know what happens when you win too much, you get booooo'd like Vettel. Yaaaaay. Boooo.
That's no fair! And it was 7:30 this morning I traded Fernando for Grosjean. Arrrgh! Graaaaaaham! Graaaaham! 89TurboTA copied my picks. Waaaaaa!
Gotcha Jimbo!!!! Let's hope that Grosjean doesn't mess up our 1-2 finish!
@graham So wadda ya think? A pick for Kimi is really a pick Heikki, I added Heikki but I'm gunna take him out. There's only one more race eh and if Heikki doesn't score points, it won't matter anyway.
Two years in a row now, I'm proud (and jealous) of you and SBF!! Glad to hear Graham and Doc Sue made it back too! It looked like the grass has grown around the stands and I'm glad to know the drink line is shorter. I spent 45 minutes one day getting a gin and tonic. They had like 2 people manning the bar and 200 people in line. I'm guessing that the issue w/ the credit card system not working ANYWHERE must be fixed this year, eh. And ya' gotta love them Mexican Martinis at Trudy's! Good for you all!
Are you sticking w/ Lewis in Brasil? I like seeing Webber on the podium. It's funny that it doesn't matter what Vettel does, 1st, last, whatever... we all have him so it nulls. So really we have two pics. There's plenty of room for movement on the podium Sunday here at the CF Fantasy. Austin rattled the list all the way down.
It's been quite a while since we've seen Bernie. Staying on the down-low ya' know. Maybe he will seek asylum in Texas from his little problems.
SuperBestFriends and I attended every day. Once again, beautiful weather and some terrific racing, especially the Vintage Race and the Ferrari Challenge Race. Thanks to a lot if feedback, COTA has brought in a lot more food and drink booths -- lines this year were noticeably shorter. Prices still high, of course, but at least now you don't have to stay in line for too long to divest yourself of your 401K. After the race we went to Trudy's where everyone gathered last year. No Sue on the table, but we didn't check underneath... Anyway, since we had to hold up tradition, we each had several Mexican Martinis. The drive back to our hotel is something I don't remember.
Welcome to Jimbo's Message Board! I'm not here right now, so please, leave a message!
If this season ends as it appears right now, there will be only two players that have been in the pink (top ten) for all 5 seasons of the CracklyFinger Fantasy series. That would be matbarlow and scuderiateocalli. Congratulations to the both of you! Mat has been on the podium twice, once as P1. Scudi has been twice also, both as P2 and will probably end up 3rd this year making him the only one to podium 3 times! Interestingly, scuderiateocalli has not had a 58 at all this year. HotRod and Jimbo have been twice as P1 and P2. 89TurboTA or I will very well be our first two-time winner! (Go Jimbo, yeah Jimbo!!) Racerx podium'd twice but didn't play this year. The one-time podium visitors are Graham, our gracious invisible host and DocSue his charming and beautiful wife. Did I mention that Jimbo is the only one to get 3 58's this year? Go Jimbo!
I am waiting to hear from the ranks about who went to Austin this year. Did the bars and vendors take credit cards this year? Were the booze lines any shorter? Were hot dogs still $18? Did anyone go to the Salt Lick? Did DocSue dance on the table again at the Mexican restaurant? Was Graham under the table?
Heikki Räikkönen did so well in practice and qualy! Not so well on race day. So who he was became a non-issue. I suggest that if you want Heikki, continue to pick Kimi. Why couldn't Hamilton bust a tie-rod or something? The 58 was nice but not enough with Hamilton finishing. 4Bkt and I lucked out with lettuce head! No one has had a 58 for the last 4 races (since Singapore). There's one more race to pip 89TurboTA. If he or I win this one, it will be the first 2 time champ.
More on Kimi - I am assuming that if you have Kimi as one of your picks, that will transfer to Heikki Kovalainen. This will have to be approved by our Master, Graham. Of course if Heikki Räikkönen doesn't finish in the top 10, it is a non-issue.
Bad back Kimi
Kimi! Kimi! WTF?
Webber! Webber!
Alternator schmalternator! Webber gets screwed again! Waaaa!
Vettel's elaborate doughnut celebrations following the chequered flag earned Red Bull a 25,000 Euro fine and the German a reprimand for failing to go straight to parc ferme, but on a day when they made history, you sense they won't be all that bothered.
In looking at the new point totals, I see that HotRod has 666. I think it wise to stay far, far away...
It comes down to Kimi vs Webber here at the cracklyfinger fantasy podium. I abandoned Kimi for Webber and I see that the car in front of me (89TutboTA) and the car behind (Pattermeister) have the pasty Scandahovian with the wise mouth. Here in Jimbo's garage, we're gunna put another shrimp on the barbee for our favorite Austrailian! The morning will tell.
Today is the nationwide opening of the new Ron Howard film, RUSH. I have just posted on my website a "smackdown" which compares this film to what most consider to be the best Formula 1 movie to date -- GRAND PRIX. In this "smackdown" format each film is compared and contrasted and only one can win. If you are interested in seeing the results, here's a link to the website:

Fernando! Fernando! 7th to 3rd before turn 1! And bad-back Kimi, didn't did alright himself! (To think I forgot to ditch Kimi for Weber Friday night.) I haven't enjoyed a race this much since the first! (My last 58. lol.) There were 5 58's for this race, 2nd only to the first race w/ 6. Wild and crazy! Definitely some changes in the Fantasy lineup this weekend.
What a race! Fernando had another even more amazing start! Congrats to isthisindycar for his very first "58"! (And the only one for this race.) Nice pickin dude! Good for a couple of a couple passes. Only 89TurboTA (#1) and HotRod (#12) have scored 2 58's. The top 8 did not change in order. I've had a buttfull of Kimi! Not even 1 point! I think Fernando is right, too much vodka for Kimi.
I hate making last minute changes. At least I didn't give up Alonso...
Way to go dahlio! The only perfect pick! From 10th to 6th just like that! 89TurboTA increases his lead mightily and I scoot around scuderiateocali handily! 4BktVet maintains his firm grip on 13th place. Vacation is over!
This is a test of the CracklyFinger comment feature!
WTG Scuderiateocalli! In a moment of great clarity and in 20/20 hindsight stupidity, I dropped Kimi.
Interesting season so far and certainly some interesting winners! Looking forward to second half!
I moved up one spot with only 39 pts this week.
Scuderiateocalli leaps over Jimbo with a score of 55! And to think I traded 18 point Kimi for 2 point Nico Friday night. Arrggh! Also scoring 55 were Pattermeister, Ketchup, Matbarlow, Turboboy and Danifrog! Nice picking! Scuderiateocalli is now within 2 points of taking the lead from last year's champ, 89TurboTA. Grosjean? Grosjean! This is the second time two Lotus boys were on the podium. It was Vettel, Räikkönen and Grosjean in Bahrain. Over half the Fantasy pickers moved up one spot. Five pickers didn't change and six went down (1 to 3 spots).
I assume you are referring to the view from the pinnacle, the tippy-top. Well you better crank up the boost Big Daddy 'cause Jimbo is on your tail! Just a little closer and I will be turning on the DRS and steaming around you.
FYI Race Fans - 89TurboTA became a new Daddy yesterday. He should be easy to get around now while changing a diaper. Congratulations Dad! Welcome to our world Annabelle Riley! I wish you and Mom and Annabelle all the best!
Hmmm...This view is very familiar...Where have I seen this before???
Duh! Doi! I discovered it was on "regular" NBC.
I did find British F1 live on the web tho, and it worked pretty good, a few laps behind the F1 Live Timing java app. I think the link only works around the race time.
What happened to LIVE coverage on NBC. The race just started and it won't be on for 6.5 hours!!?? REALLY??!! Is this the same for all of us?
Soooo what happened to Hamilton in Spain?
Alright, I am asking for a review by the FIA folks! Who ever heard of the DRS flap failing on a car before it happened to Fernando Alonso ? First it sticks open...yeah, who needs downforce anyway?...then it sticks closed for the entire race (DRS is highly overated, right?)! Man, he went from being a contender to pack fodder! Who do we suspect? Maybe the Red Bull folks, trying to gain an advantage, or the Force India guys?!
And we have a new leader - congratulations SuperBestFriends! Mrs. scuderiateocalli jumped ahead of the five-way quagmire.
Fun race. We saw lots of drivers making statements today, not least of which was Perez, duking it out with everyone.
Yeah Graham, good thing I don't have any money on the race!
Just heard from @brickyard, he's back in the game! Now let's get @Pattermeister, @303jimp and @Dinkledorph workin' it again.
@isthisindycar, too bad you (and OTBMP) dumped Rosberg after Malaysia! Mercedes is looking pretty darn good lately. My feeling is Schumacher did a great job helping them develop the car.
"Again, I will fix guesses... ...you have guesses for Bahrain."
Remember, the odds on favorite for Bahrain is Danica Patrick , although I am having trouble finding her in the selection window. Must be a conspiracy by that new administrator fellow...he looks pretty shifty to me. Well, if I can't select Danica, I'll take the towel head folks that are acting up. Oops, now I'll be on an FBI watch list...at least for something different this time. :)
Well, by now you've received the reminder to re-pick your drivers and "save for all races". Yeah, just a few weeks late, sorry about that.
I found that something on my web host had locked emails from going out. No idea why, no idea whatsoever, but as soon as that lock was removed all the old emails were sent.
Again, I will fix guesses for China for all those affected. Please, please PLEASE check that you have guesses for Bahrain. If not, enter your choices and select "save these picks..." as desired.
Hi everyone. My apologies for problems with the cracklyfinger guesses this season. Not only did we have an issue with "save these picks for all races", we also have a problem sending emails from our web host.
Please hang in there. I will fix the picks which didn't appear this week, solve the email problem and look forward to Bahrain.
Graham
How come we had so many participants fail to enter this week? Hope this doesn't continue -- the more the merrier.
Well Son, you're ahead of me and TurboGirl but you're going to do some slicker pickin' if you want to get up in the Pink.
I'm currently in 20th place.
That was one crazy race! It's been a long time since we've seen so much in-team controversy: Webber v. Vettel: "Multi-21 Seb! Multi-21!?" Hamilton v. Rosberg: "He's too slow!" And how often do we see Alonso make such a bone-headed decision? Surely Ross Brawn and Christian Horner are feeling the heat today. Probably a good thing we have several weeks until our next race.
Where is racerx?!!!
Damn; I knew I should have kept the shiny one.
congrats on the new admin. hopefully i stay on top and everybody needs to ketchup to me. good luck to everyone.
So I gotta know, do TurboBoy and TurboGirl know each other? Do they have intercoolers? What is a Pattermeister and who is 303jimp? Those are our new members; welcome aboard! But the burning question is, where are apexalex, F1Champ, lectral13 and last season's #3 on the podium, racerx? And, did you all know that Jimbo has been promoted to Admin by Graham! I finished entering all the races last night so be sure that you re-check the "Remember my choice" box if desired even if you did already. Last year, after the first race, there was a 5-way tie for 1st w/ dahlio, Danifrog, lectral13, isthisindycar and graham. By the second race, 89TurboTA took the lead (no tie) and kept it for the rest of the season without changing his picks! That has to be a record, first place for all but one race. Let's hope that the new administrator doesn't get Dinkledorf's picks mixed up with 89TurboTA's.
Wow, what an exciting race and great to see six players getting maximum points. Too bad about Rosberg retirement, both Mercedes looked strong. Great work by Adrian Sutil and diResta-da-money. Nothing new from Webber, minus five positions at the start seems about right.
Welcome to new players Pattermeister (nice picks!) and our good buddy 303jimp!
Great minds think alike. A 6-way tie for 1st place: 89TurboTA, graham, Jimbo, Ketchup, matbarlow and newcomer Pattermeister! Savor them 58 points Pattermeister! Hot diggity, we're off and running!
First to comment??? Really??? Where the hell is Jimbo at??? Can't believe I am the first!!!! Your 2012 Champion has arrived!
