I echo WylieWayne's concern regarding NBC taking over the telecasts. My guess is that they will not do near as good a job and that they might even delay the telecasts (rather than carrying the races live) for ratings purposes. I hope I'm wrong.

As for not changing my predictions for the last race -- I gambled that 89TurboTA would do so. Anyway, second place is fine with me...

Congrats to the podium folks! It was my first year and I enjoyed the whole process. Thanks to all who do the work and keep this all moving forward!

My only regret is that NBC Sports gets the TV rights and I will miss the wonderful, insightful and enthusiastic announcing of Bob, David and Steve. I hate to think who they will have unless.......

Guess we will see..... Special Kudus out to Number 2 ?????? ScuderiaTeocalli and see you next season!

First off,

Thank you to Jimbo for entertaining me last night while handing over the crown. The Double Bastard Ale he was consuming took an hour to finish, but the verbal show only got better as the bottom of the bottle neared. Hopefully his liver will allow him to arrive to work on time and in a colorful shirt with matching socks Monday morning.

Even though I made my picks before the season began, I was aware of all competitors that decided to challenge toward the end. Multiple times I considered changing my picks to attempt to stay ahead of scuderiateocalli, racerx, and matbarlow, but in the end, I realized that my choices were likely to keep me in the lead. I have to say I am surprised that no one went outside of their picks to challenge the last race!

Thank You ALL!!!!

Your 2012 Champion! Dave

Posted by: 89TurboTA on Monday Nov 26, 2012 at 3:18 a.m. UTC

As the Official F-1 Fantasy Series Runner-Up I hereby declare that I will cheerfully assume all the obligations of the Winner should 89TurboTA have to step down for moral reasons and/or any other activity deeming him no longer worthy of wearing the Crown.

Posted by: scuderiateocalli on Sunday Nov 25, 2012 at 2:38 p.m. UTC

Way to go Dave! Made his picks and stayed with them all season. What a LUKCY BASARTD you are!!

When our picks were revealed this morning, it became obvious that the top 4 all have the same picks (same as 89TurboTA's since the 2nd race)! Mathmatically, only matbarlow had a chance to get on the podium, but since he has the same picks as the three above him, nothing will change from 4th on up. It hurt my brain to try to figure out what changes below would be. With 17 picks for Vettel, 14 for Hamilton and 12 for Alonso, I'm rooting for Alonso! I had my buddy Flavio talk with Grosjean about taking Vettel out. (Notice, I didn't pick him.)

The Podium Players are as follows (First, Second, Third):

2009 - matbarlow, graham, docsue

2010 - HotRod, scuderiateocalli, matbarlow

2011 - Jimbo, HotRod, racerx

2012 - 89TurboTA, scuderiateocalli, racerx

This is the first time that graham, HotRod and Jimbo have not at least finished in the PINK. WAAAAAA!

Posted by: Jimbo on Saturday Nov 24, 2012 at 10 p.m. UTC

Some observations:

Until now, race 1 had the most 58's (perfect scores) at 5. Austin had 7 58's!

From race 2 through 11, NO ONE got a 58!

The first race saw the highest sum of our scores at 961; Austin got 2nd at 875 total points awarded.

Since Belgum, the largest gain was DocSue's 8 place jump. The biggest loser (sorry dude), WylieWayne down 7 places. Wylie will probably finish 4th in spite of it!

There is currently a 3-way tie for 9th with DaniFrog, lectral13 and isthisindycar.

Currently 4 of the Top Ten are FOJ (Friends of Jimbo). (Subject to Brazil results.)

Your Number One guy from last season will finish around 15th. Not even in the PINK. WAAAAAAAA!

After tomorrow, the long wait begins for the 2013 season. WAAAAAAAA!

Thank you once again Graham for the opportunity to have all this fun!

Posted by: Jimbo on Saturday Nov 24, 2012 at 9:36 p.m. UTC

So 89TurboTA has been at the top of the pile since the second race. He (and his imitators) have not changed their picks since the second race. Austin is the FIRST race that his picks all got on the podium. Go figure eh!

Rain on Sunday??

A number of the CracklyFinger Fantasy participants went to Austin for the race last weekend. It was SOOO GOOD! The track is amazing, HotRod and I walked around it on Friday. We met up with DocSue and Graham at the track on Friday and ScuderiaTeocalli and SuperBestFriends on Saturday. All of us met at Trudy's for dinner on Saturday where we hooked up with TurboBoy. We saw Hamilton drive around Vettel near the end of the race and I'm sure we all all many more stories from the trip.

Yikes! I can't find Doc Sue's number. Lost the scrap I wrote it on. I'll be in Austin tomorrow so ya'all give ME a call. 909 732-9990. Purdy exciting!

Posted by: Jimbo on Thursday Nov 15, 2012 at 4:26 a.m. UTC

Lynda and I will be driving to Austin all three days. We would love to hook up with the out-of-state Cracklyfinger contingent -- perhaps after the Practice Session or Qualifying would be best. Our cell number is 210-865-7265 -- give us a call. Looking forward to meeting everyone and to seeing Graham and Sue again.

Robert Nowotny. (Scuderiateocalli).

Posted by: SuperBestFriends on Wednesday Nov 7, 2012 at 3:01 a.m. UTC

After reviewing matbarlow's picks...

Ohhh, now I get it. Don't pick Raikkonen when he's not going to place well, but do pick him when he will win. D'oh, I had no idea.

Sue and I are in Texass now, heating up nicely and preparing for Austin. See everyone soon!

Posted by: graham on Monday Nov 5, 2012 at 9:02 p.m. UTC

HotRod and I (and a couple other CA guys) are meeting up w/ Graham and Sue in less than 2 weeks. We all have GA tickets, however, WE also have one of the $200 onsite parking ticket (split 5 ways is only $40 each). Nanee, nanee! HotRod and I arrive on Wednesday and one of our first stops will be at the Jackalope Bar and Grill where we will let the partying begin!

There is a rumor here in the comments that ScuderiaTeocalli will be there. No one else is going? Hey, you can still get great seats for around $5000! Yikes! Y'all come on down, ya hear! (Practicing my Texas accent.)

Posted by: Jimbo on Sunday Nov 4, 2012 at 7:17 p.m. UTC

We still have the same 3-way tie for 10th and now a 2-way tie for 6th w/ F1Champ and dahlio. Dossue up 3 and dahlio down 2, 4BktVet down 1. TurboBoy and apexalex trade places down at 18 and 19th place. No other changes in the lineup. However, 11 of us got 33 points, 5 of us got 27 and only matbarlow got the coveted 58 putting him 12 points away from a podium spot! Go matbarlow! Look out racerx, he's close enough to use the DRS..

Posted by: Jimbo on Sunday Nov 4, 2012 at 7:05 p.m. UTC

So, is that 5 of us in Austin in 2 weeks?

Posted by: Jimbo on Saturday Nov 3, 2012 at 2:49 a.m. UTC

WTG ScuderiaTeocalli! Keep up the great work and enjoy the new Circuit of the Americas!

Posted by: WylieWayne on Thursday Nov 1, 2012 at 8:56 p.m. UTC

Did everyone notice that 3 pickers got 58 this race? 4BktVet shot around 5 cars to #7! Go Yellow! And F1Champ moved up one, however poor Graham stayed put at 15th with his 58! How 'bout that 3-way tie for 10th? Danifrog, lectral13 and isthisindycar? It's NICE in the pink! Given that we have 3 races left that would yield a max of 174 points, I would only need 111 points to go BACK tot the top. (If everyone else picked like Dinkledorf.)

Posted by: Jimbo on Thursday Nov 1, 2012 at 2:44 a.m. UTC

Go scuderiateocalli! His 2nd "58", and the only perfect pick for this race, bumps racerx to 3rd. The top 3 order has changed! Graham moves up 2 and F1champ moves up 3! Go champ! The fact that Graham entered the results tells us that the CracklyFinger HQ was rockin' 'til the end! What I want to know, why are the three heavy weights down at 13, 14 and 15??!!

Posted by: Jimbo on Sunday Oct 14, 2012 at 8:21 a.m. UTC

I think Grosjean has a lot of potential, in demolition derby. Can the FIA remove him from F1? Please.

Posted by: 4BktVet on Sunday Oct 7, 2012 at 3:25 p.m. UTC

Eeehaw! My first 58! And scuderiateocalli's as well. No one has had two 58's yet.We got a 3-way tie for 8th with Dannyfrog, lectral13 and isthisindycar AND a 2-way for 11th with me and Ketchup. Docsue is the top hopper again, moving up 4 places to 6th! Go docsue! The top 5 remain the same with minor movement below them. Oh yeah, and Hamilton is not too happy eh.

Posted by: Jimbo on Sunday Sep 23, 2012 at 11:27 p.m. UTC

How can pick Qing Hua Ma?

Posted by: Dinkledorph on Saturday Sep 22, 2012 at 3:33 a.m. UTC

The top three continue to reign, but underneath is a tornado! Wham! Docsue is slammed from 5th to 10th! WylieWayne from 7th to 14th! Ouch! On the other end of things, F1Champ is up 6 to number 6! I'm up 4 to 13. Whoopie. Then there's matbarlow's score of 420 puts him right on scuderiateocalli's tail eh! Unfortunately, SuperBestFriends' mighty score moves up only two places to #16, but it's the right direction!

Posted by: Jimbo on Tuesday Sep 11, 2012 at 6:03 a.m. UTC

Congratulations to SuperBestFriends for scoring the highest in today's race. Red Bull's reliability problems make future predictions even more interesting...

Posted by: scuderiateocalli on Sunday Sep 9, 2012 at 8:37 p.m. UTC

Actually matbarlow, docsue is the first to get a 58 since the first race. That race saw dahlio, Danifrog, lectral13, istthisindycar and graham in a 5-way tie for 1st place! If you "Highlight all" of the 58's on the current Leaderboard page, there's something else interesting. Danifrog, lectra13 and isthisindycar are tied with 358 points. It's been a while since we had a tie. What docsue may have, is the greatest position jumpingness factor of all time. Eight places!! Nice hop Sue!! And then there's Ketchup. He was feeling firmly intrenched in the pink at 5. A different view from 11. Down 6! Ouch! Don't even ask how my boys did. What a first turn! The top 3 did not change positions. The average change for the group was 0 although there was plenty of movement both up and down.

Posted by: Jimbo on Monday Sep 3, 2012 at 6:14 a.m. UTC

Nice work DocSue on the season's very first perfect podium prediction. I'm thinking there's one happy chiro on Shavano this evening! Too bad those handsome choices can't come over and make her a cocktail tonight!

Posted by: matbarlow on Sunday Sep 2, 2012 at 11:13 p.m. UTC

Don't think docsue and I can stay up for qually after watching the olympic games opening ceremony. glad we have dvr.

Posted by: graham on Saturday Jul 28, 2012 at 8:31 a.m. UTC

How 'bout that 89TurboTA? Sitting on top for 9 races now! AND, with his original picks! I guess there's no point in changing now. Go Dave!!

Biggest mover this race: docsue! Up to 9th from 13th and sitting pretty in the pink! Go Sue!

Posted by: Jimbo on Tuesday Jul 24, 2012 at 5:58 a.m. UTC

Looks to me like this is the first time the WylieOne has missed. Bummer, gotta check the 'Remember my picks" box. Better than no picks at all, unless you're me. I managed to get zero twice now. Even bad picks are on record.

Posted by: Jimbo on Tuesday Jul 24, 2012 at 5:44 a.m. UTC

What happened to WylieWayne? Did he forget to enter this week? Or did he enter and his points were somehow overlooked???

Is anyone going to Austin with Jimbo? Speak up! Where's the party? November is coming.

Posted by: Dinkledorph on Saturday Jul 7, 2012 at 5:46 a.m. UTC

Well race fans, I just purchased my COTA F1 General Admission ticket! I already have my Ontario (CA) to Austin plane tickets so I reckon I am going!

The Canada race is starting in minutes but I am leaving for a week at the beach north of Santa Barbara right now. I can only say: GO WEBBER!

Posted by: Jimbo on Sunday Jun 10, 2012 at 5:56 p.m. UTC

Late last Friday I traded Webber for Perez.I think the Earth flipped over. What the hell? How can this be? Hell fire! Puta Madre! Number one here eh. Languishing HARD. My BEST pick, Sergio Perez (fastest lap!), #11=0 points + LettuceHead & Pastor (my other boys), crash on 1st lap. Holy $hit! Chin up, Canada eh?

Then there's 89TurboTA! Go Shiny Headed Pontiac Boy! 55 points away, docsue sits on the bump. Wow, 6 down, 14 to go!

Posted by: Jimbo on Saturday Jun 2, 2012 at 6:51 a.m. UTC

Hi everyone. We just loaded new code fixing a bug displaying föréigñ characters. Now when you pick someone like Kimi Räikkönen you won't have a server error afterwards. Sorry for the confusion that caused.

Posted by: graham on Friday May 25, 2012 at 9:53 p.m. UTC

Lewis gets pole and promptly loses it by steward decision. He can't get a break. #characterbuilding

Alonso on the front row? Are you serious? Where is Massa in the same Ferrari?

Happy day for Williams and Pastor Maldonado and happy 70th birthday Sir Frank Williams!

Front row better keep a sharp eye on their mirrors, Iceman and LettuceHead are gaining fast!

I want pink! (top ten standing in cracklyfinger fantasy)

Posted by: graham on Saturday May 12, 2012 at 6:05 p.m. UTC

So loverboy, are we going to see any pictures of this mythical beast with the heroine at the helm?

Gee Mr. Luvyduvyhubby, I found this altitude correcting calculator that is sort of depressing. Says 300 is 219 at 9000 feet. Ouch! Goes up to 231 in Gunney, 255 in Denver. The burnouts in my driveway (1320 ft) would have 288 behind 'em baby!

I'm not even thinking about the race, except I hope to hell it don't rain in Spain! Maybe after a practice or so I will be enlightened. Maybee it eez time to go Groshan. Ever since we lost Flavio, you can't count on anything.

Posted by: Jimbo on Friday May 11, 2012 at 2:44 a.m. UTC

I heard a 2011 BMW 335xi yesterday. docsue is enjoying 300 bhp and 300 torque (from 1300 - 5000 rpm!) on the drive to work thanks to her loving hubby and some great incentives from BMW on last years cars.

My picks have been pretty bad as well Jimbo. I pulled for Nico and Mike in Bahrain to no avail. Sucks when you're not in the pink on cracklyfinger!

Posted by: graham on Thursday Apr 26, 2012 at 12:22 a.m. UTC

I asked about that when I got a call from COTA offering me ownership on some high-tone seats. It seems the RV camping will be OUTSIDE the track possibly w/out a view of the track at all. The gal I was talking to didn't have a lot of info on the camping/RV options. She was pushing the $1500 seats on turn 15 I think.

Any way, as far as the season so far, uh, so far it kind of sucks, a lot. I was feeling like Vettel, the Champ down at 17th, then HE goes and wins, now that I'm not picking him 'cause he's such a LOOSER! Oy vey. And my man Mr. Badluckmacher. Holy cow! And I've had a buttfull of Bahrain.

The new 3-Pick system is win. No one has scored a 58 point Podium yet. That will be cool! The first race had 6 ties, the 2nd had 4, 3rd had 3 and 4th has 2 ties. And, there's more! There has been one 5 way tie, two 4 ways and 3 ways, and four 2 way ties. Amazing, huh?

One last thing (as Columbo used to say), there's a rumor about some new wheels in CB South. Hmmm... Heard anything? Seen anything?

Posted by: Jimbo on Tuesday Apr 24, 2012 at 1:35 a.m. UTC

Wondering what happened to the RV idea for the Austin race? Are they not offering this option anymore or was that us dreaming?! Seeing Austin is getting on board with F1 prices everywhere!

What a race today!

Posted by: docsue on Monday Apr 23, 2012 at 3:26 a.m. UTC

Sorry for the delay in posting as I have been running across the noses (or whatever they are called) for the last six weeks. I have been reading but no extra time. Whew! I have been F1 fan counter to US tradition since I was 8 and Phil Hill won... Followed Clark and Hill and Mansell and many others through late nights and early mornings! Got to watch Monaco twice from the turn at the basin. While I would love to see a race at COTA I am as skeptical as my friends scuderiateocalli and SuperbestFriends. Yes, I was one of the ones who bought the EA sports F1 and was online for a while but younger racers destroyed me (or maybe faster connections....LOL.

Hello all and I look forward to this season. However, I do miss the old reckless passing and races with suspense up to the end. Mansell through the field or Senna on a run.

and am pleased to enjoy DVR's timely intro and thus a chance to watch almost all of the races.

Posted by: WylieWayne on Friday Apr 20, 2012 at 7:36 p.m. UTC

King Hamad bin Al Khalifa and Bernie Ecclestone say the race MUST go on! They will NOT yield to the terrorist threats or wacky hackers known as Anonymous. Yikes! F1 can be scary but Bahrain can be deadly. Good luck boys!

Posted by: Jimbo on Friday Apr 20, 2012 at 6:53 p.m. UTC

Funny none of us picked Rosberg, but he was there during practice and qualifying. Is his car leagal, he won by 20sec!

I received some mail from the Circuit of the Americas today! I will post a link to the attachments referred to below this weekend. Sure hope I win that $640 million lottery! Then we can all go!

This is A.J. Rizzo with Circuit of the Americas. I wanted to try and reach out to you before your priority period with us ends. Our prime spots are moving quickly -but with your priority, you are still able to get the best locations at our track if you act quickly.

I’ve attached some information about our seating options at the track for you to review.

We currently have seating options in the Main Grandstand, Grand Plaza (Turn 15), and Turn 1. Page 7 and 9 of the PSL Presentation will show the Grandstand, page 8 will give you a look at Turn 1, and page 4 will show you the Grand Plaza (bottom right picture – the elevated stand to the left of the large red tower/amphitheater). These seats are the best at the track and all come with a personal seat license.

A Personal Seat License (PSL):

-Gives you ownership of the seat for 15 years - You can sell your PSL or transfer it to someone else after 2 years of ownership

-You have right to purchase tickets for ANY race for your seat - You can sell your tickets at any price you desire

-You pay a 1-time upfront cost

-You’ll pay an annual season ticket package - Season Ticket Package includes F1 (Nov 16-18) and V8 Supercars (March or May of 2013) - Any other race is optional

Both the Grand Plaza and Turn 1 have the same price points as the Main Grandstand ($2000, $3000, $4000, $5500). Turn 1 does not have the cheapest option available. Please note that you can subtract $500 from the PSL price if you pay in full upfront.

If the PSL is not an option, we will have General Admission seats that will come out mid-to-late summer. You will still have priority access to purchase these seats over the general public. The prices will be consistent with other F1 races around the world.

Let me know if you have any questions. You can call me at (512) 536-1453 any time.

Still nothing from those cowboys. However, HotRod tells me we have two 1star rooms reserved in Austin! On 2/21 I got an email asking me to update my info and take a brief survey. I responded a couple weeks later and the survey was over. On 3/14 I received another email introducing me to Anthony Rizzo, the Premium Sales Consultant. I think he was the former mayor of Bell who got in big trouble for embezzling. If it's not him, he's still got to be a mafioso. Tony Rizzo, Come on! As I remember, it said we can get our money back if we don't buy anything. Guess we'll see about that. We sure HOPE it happens. I'll bring my tent trailer and the 2 cycle margarita blender and we'll PARDY!

Hey racerx - you are supposed to enter the top 10, not just the top three. All 10 entries put 89TurboTA at the top by 10 points! Congrats 89TurboTA! I'll bet the Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale is flowing heavily! What a wacky race!

FOJ (Friends of Jimbo)? Geez, sounds like some group therapy thing doesn't it?! Hi, my name is Jeff, and I'm a Friend of Jimbo. ("Hi Jeff".... echoes throughout the room....). Well, I've been a fan of Formula 1 for years, along with sports cars (thank you Audi for believing in diesel), Indy cars, karts, figure 8 races, and demolition derby. Growing up in central Indiana you sort of have to follow Indy cars, and the world almost does stop in the month of May. I gravitated towards cars that require real engineering rather than "stock cars" aka NASCAR. Shoot, they used carbs up until this season! Anyway, that's a short bit about me. I also really enjoy cycling and bike racing, so get out to the Redlands Classic this week if you're in the So Cal area and root for some real athletes.

Posted by: isthisindycar on Tuesday Mar 20, 2012 at 4:04 a.m. UTC

Jimbo -- well, it is a long season and I have time to make ground. Of course, the same holds true for losing even more ground...

As for COTA -- I'll post a message here if I get contacted by them. Let me add that my husband (suderiateocalli) and I reman a bit skeptical this race will actually be held and, if it is, that it will be a success. This is based on many years of repeated big disappointments coming from the Austin area. I don't mean to be too negative, but that's the history there and we should know, having lived in Austin over a number of years. Having said this, our fingers are crossed and we figure that a hundred bucks isn't too much to put at risk.

My man Jenson Button!

How about a 5 way tie for first (graham on top)?

It is the first race, but maybe 3 picks=more ties?

How about 4 FOJ (Friends Of Jimbo) in the Top Ten?

How about a 2 way tie for 3rd from LAST with 4BktVet and HotRod (also FOJ)?

How about 5 new players (lectral13, isthisindycar, Ketchup, WylieWayne and F1Champ!)?

What a Pissy Little F Lewis was? (Shiny though!)

Dang that 89TurboTA, 2 points ahead of me! Bald headed bastard!

SuperBestFriends: Someone had to be last. Sorry. You coming to Austin? (COTA has not offered me any seats yet.)

Because we don't have any history, I submit we go alphabetical, so tie for first goes, dahlio, Danifrog, graham, isthisindycar, lectral13. (Go Danifrog!) I'm not tied with anyone at 8th but glad to be in the Pink..

21 of us here in Australia for the first race. Most excellent! A stronger presence from the west coast. Possibly more than Colorado and Texas combined? Does anyone read the stuff here? It would be cool if ALL YA'ALL told us who ya'all is. Com'on 2012! Predictions Criswell?
